President Rumen Radev said this in his speech at a solemn dawn inspection in Vratsa on the occasion of the Day of Botev and those who died for the freedom and independence of Bulgaria, BTA reported.
Heroic sacrificial generations win freedom, happy generations inherit it, weak generations squander it, he noted.
A day like today is not an occasion for pathos, but an occasion for humility and reflection on the poet's words, which continue to challenge generations – Are the respectable people still considered crazy in our country, are the fools still respected by everyone, are the people still being sucked in by our and foreign guests, are Bulgarians still wandering around unloved in a difficult foreign country, said President Radev.
We know the answers, but I believe that there is no Bulgarian doom, there is Bulgarian will, Bulgarian boldness, Bulgarian talent and Botev is their embodiment, but I believe that each of us Bulgarians today carries a part of them in us, he added .
