Psychologist on domestic violence: Those who seek to control others control themselves the least - 1

How does domestic violence come about and why it happens in our society, commented psychologist Dr. Plamen Dimitrov on NOVA NEWS.

„In smaller communities, where family and neighborhood life is more active, there is prevention in domestic violence. "People look for support and get it from their relatives, neighbors and friends," said Dimitrov.

He believes that in society there is no control over the compulsion to impose by force on others something that harms them.

The psychologist pointed out that the behavior of the “rapist shows the power that the psychopath imagines when he almost kills his victim. This is called overcompensation – you feel inferior, you turn it into a complex, and to rework it you want superiority”.

He pointed out that domestic violence in all its forms is the most underreported and unshared. “Early child development is the moment when examples are absorbed that violence is a means that is not sanctioned and with which goals are achieved”, the psychologist also explained.

In his words, violence aims to impose yourself on the will of the other and his interest.

„Power and the cult of superiority, not considering the other significant and worthy, is the trigger that unlocks violent impulses in many people,”, added Dimitrov.

He specified that this is why it is important for children to have access to programs to build life skills.

„The over-desire for control develops either into violence, or into coercion, or into manipulation. If we look around in society, we will see that those who strive to control others are the least in control of themselves, the expert also believes.
