Prof. Ivo Injov: This GERB government will be very dependent on the DPS - 1

From now on this government it will be very dependent on Delyan Peevski and the DPS, because a minority government, such as the one proposed by GERB, must be supported by one main political force and that is the DPS, of course 7-8 more deputies are needed.

This is predicted by political communications expert Assoc. Ivo Indjov in the show “Who is speaking” on radio "Darik".

He commented on the rumors that Peevski named some of the ministers in Zhelyazkov's draft cabinet. Clarifying that it is not written anywhere in black and white who exactly the DPS co-chairman pointed to, the analyst stated: “We can recall what he said not long ago - that

DPS is the figure that will decide whether to have a government or not and they will name who the prime minister will be.

Peevski then said it with great self-confidence that the government would depend on them. Both in its current form and in the selection of the government, it is possible that one of the ministers was not connected with the DPS in the past, but now Peevski is holding on to him.

An interlocutor in the studio was the political scientist Hristo Panchugov, who saw similarities in the composition of the draft cabinet of GERB with chairman Rosen Zhelyazkov, with the last cabinet of Boyko Borisov's party.

“This government is quite similar to the last GERB government of 2020. In this sense, it is also a very vivid demonstration aimed at all critics of GERB in recent years who tried to remove them from power. This demonstration, of course, is also a provocation in some sense and aims to strengthen the feeling in GERB that they are the only ones who care about political stability in Bulgaria, Panchugov said.

However, the political scientist emphasized that GERB and the party leader feel uncomfortable in the situation in which they are placed, because this is not the best option for management.

Panchugov justified himself by specifying that

it brings Borisov and GERB into “very close dependence” from DPS.

“Something that Mr. Borisov has always tried to avoid, at least publicly. In this sense, we saw his request as a last attempt to attract people from "We continue the change"-"Democratic Bulgaria" to support this government. But I don't expect that to happen. The big question to which we do not have an answer is, firstly, whether we will have a government, and secondly, what will its work look like from now on,” said Panchugov.
