A fire broke out this morning in the underpass of the "Serdika" metro station, the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported to the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA). The incident, which caused panic among passers-by, began shortly after 9:00 a.m.
Signal and actions of the fire department
At 9:14 a.m., the fire department operations center received a report of a bakery on fire in the area of the metro station. According to initial information, the cause of the fire was a technical malfunction in the site's electrical installation.
Fire crews responded immediately and were on the scene within minutes. Despite the intense smoke, the firefighters were able to quickly locate and extinguish the fire. The Ministry of the Interior - Sofia confirmed that the fire was extinguished at 9:45 a.m.
Safety measures and smoke extraction
After the fire was successfully extinguished, immediate measures were taken to clear the area of smoke. Although the smoke was significant, it did not reach the subway platforms, preventing more serious consequences and disruption of transport service.

Passers-by and passengers who were in the area of the metro station said that they were initially scared by the smoke and the smell of burning. However, the quick response of the fire department calmed the situation and prevented more serious damage.
