Starting today, July 25, 2024, the time interval of the ban on the passage of heavy-duty motor vehicles over 3.5 tons through the Petrokhan Pass will be increased by 1 hour, the API reported, quoted by dariknews.bg.
Heavy-duty trucks moving only in the direction of Montana – Sofia, will not be able to travel from Monday to Friday between 5:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., as well as on Saturdays and Sundays. The change in the temporary organization of traffic is necessary in order to relieve the traveling local population, which intensively uses the section in the morning and evening.
The increase in the hours in which the passage of heavy goods vehicles is not allowed is made as a result of the in-depth traffic analysis carried out since the beginning of the introduction of the temporary organization. So far, it shows that only 20% of the heavy goods traffic using the bypass routes passes through the Petrokhan Pass, and that there are no serious traffic accidents.
The data also show that the traffic of passenger cars is intense between 5:00 and 6:00, therefore the passage of motor vehicles over 3.5 tons is stopped in this interval. Traffic monitoring will continue and changes to the temporary traffic arrangements may be made if necessary.
We remind you that the road through the Petrokhan pass is one of the possible, not the main detour route for the trucks, only in the direction of Montana – Sofia. The organization was created in connection with the closure of the Mezdra road – Lutidol – p.v. “Novice“ because of the modernization of the first-class road Mezdra - Botevgrad.
Detour routes for light freight and main and possible detours for heavy freight traffic are also provided. The main bypass routes for the tracks are two-way, and the possible – one-way only in the direction of Montana-Sofia and Sofia-Montana.
For cars (up to 3.5 tons) the detour will be on road III-1004 Pavolche – Chelopek – road III-1602 Chelopek – Lyutibrod village – road II-16 Lutibrod – Eliseyna – His own – ring road of Sofia and back.
For heavy goods transport / over 3.5 tons/ the main bypass routes are:
- road II-13 Krapchene - Krivodol - Borovan - Byala Slatina - Knezha - Dolni Dabnik - road I-3 Dolni Dabnik - Cherven bryag - Lukovit - Zlatna Panega - AM “Hemus“ and vice versa;
- road II-15 Vratsa - Borovan - II-13 Borovan - Byala Slatina - Knezha - Dolni Dabnik - road I-3 Dolni Dabnik - Cherven bryag - Lukovit - Zlatna Panega - AM “Hemus“ and vice versa.
The possible bypass routes for vehicles over 3.5 t are:
- Only in the direction of Montana – by AM “Hemus“ - road I-3 Yablanitsa - Zlatna Panega - road III-3082 Zlatna Panega - Roman - road III-103 Roman - Mezdra - p. in. “Moravitsa“ - road I-1 p. v. Moravitsa - Vratsa – Montana;
- Only in the direction of Sofia – on road II-81 through the passage “Petrohan“ until 15.10.2024
During the implementation of construction works on the Lutidol section - p. c. “Novice“ traffic will be able to take place on road III-161 Rebarkovo – Lutidol – Botevgrad or on the Tipchenitsa municipal road – Lipnica – Novitiate. From the road junction "Novachene" to the stage connection at km 192+140, the traffic will be on the newly constructed four-lane road I-1.
Drivers will be able to use other republican roads as detour routes, observing the permanent traffic organization in effect for them.
