“One of the main priorities of the Metropolitan Municipality in the field of social policy is the disclosure of social services that meet the specific needs of people from the needy target groups, as well as the creation of more accessible social services for a wider range of users,” Mayor Terziev in his report adds that at the present time there is no social service providing specialized care for people with rare diseases on the territory of the Metropolitan Municipality.
“In order to increase understanding, awareness in society and improve the lives of people with rare diseases, who go through difficult medical and social obstacles when faced with the rare diagnosis, the need to open the Center for Social Rehabilitation and Integration service (priority rare diseases)“, says the mayor Terziev.
Improving the quality of life of about 150,000 families living in the territory of the Metropolitan Municipality and providing the necessary support to people with rare diseases can happen through the creation of specialized social services with high expertise that offer coordination of health, social and educational needs of those affected. With the disclosure of the social service, a chance for a better quality and fuller life will be given to people with rare diseases and their families.
