Levent Memish in front of FACTS: Ahmed Dogan is a DPS! There is no other DPS! - 1

DPS (without Peevski ) met with the representatives of “There is such a people” for support for a third-term government. This is part of the political process in the parliament, but what is happening with the party and what is the role of President Radev in the split of the formation... Levent Memish, an independent people's representative from DPS, spoke to FAKTI.

- Mr. Memish, how did it happen that President Rumen Radev is to blame for the division in DPS, if we listen to Delyan Peevski…
- No, we do not listen to Delyan Peevski and we do not comment on baseless suggestions from a person from whom the trust of all regional structures of the party has been removed and personally from the honorary chairman of the DPS, Dr. Ahmed Dogan. As they say colloquially, these are "bosh laff" and various attempts at PR suggestions.

- The president is always a convenient excuse when it is necessary to look for “guilty”, but is he so powerful as to divide the DPS?
- DPS is an idea, DPS is a cause and it cannot be divided by any powerful or empowered entity. You correctly articulated that a convenient excuse and blame were sought. This quest can be satisfied with a glance in the mirror on the part of the seeker.
The situation in the DPS is very correctly defined in the letter of our Honorary Chairman Dr. Ahmed Dogan dated July 10, where he says: “Factually speaking, there is an attempt at an intra-party coup in the DPS to use the party power for personal and group interests , and above all to change the political profile of the party...“ I don't know why this fact is conveniently ignored by some media.
Over the years, there have always been unsuccessful attempts to divide the DPS, and we already have a built-up collective immunity to such crisis situations.

- There is Peevski's DPS, that is, there is no other DPS… This is what we hear from Delyan Peevski, and where is Ahmed Dogan in the DPS?
- Ahmed Dogan is a DPS! There is no other DPS! There is no better answer to this question than the following quote from Dr. Dogan's July 10 letter: “No one can steal or misappropriate DPS. Our organization is not a sole proprietorship. And therefore it cannot be owned by anyone. DPS is a political achievement of all of us.“

Article 9a of our party statute also answers this question:
(1) The founder and first chairman of the DPS is the Honorary Chairman of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms.
(2) The honorary chairman of the DPS personifies and expresses the permanent values and strategic goals of the party. Thank you for your question!

With his statements made on July 31 on the sidelines of the Parliament, Mr. Peevski dispelled all his previous untenable suggestions about the absence of conflict, about paternal relations, about compliance with the statutes of the DPS, about working for the voters of the DPS, about tribute to the honorary chairman and personally attacking Dr. Ahmed Dogan, clearly showed the intentions to destroy DPS.

- During the week from the DPS (without Peevski) you announced that there is pressure on your MPs from the KPCONPI, the NRA, etc. What is this pressure and how is it exerted?
- This pressure is expressed in various forms, including intensive inspections of the business and personal finances of MPs and investigations. These actions are aimed at destabilizing the party and weakening its influence by putting pressure on individual members of the parliamentary group.

Furthermore, since last week we have been receiving signals from mayors of municipalities, chairmen of municipal councils and people close to them that inspections have been initiated against them and specific actions taken. We are currently collecting information and will contact the relevant authorities shortly.

Checks and investigations are used as a pressure tool to create an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty. But, as they say, we have played this game and the individuals concerned will not achieve their goals.

- The acting finance minister answered you, but what did he say…
- Last week we asked the following:
-- Was there a meeting between KPCONPI, the Ministry of Finance and the National Revenue Agency, and if there was, who initiated this meeting and for what reason did it take place?
-- Was there an outsider during the meeting?
-- What are the prerequisites that necessitated the ordering of massive inspections of about 25 people's representatives from the DPS?
-- What is the reason for ordering these checks right now?
-- What makes the tax authorities subject exactly these 25 or so people to screening?
-- Are these inspections inspired by specific political figures?
We do not have an answer to these specific questions at this time. Instead, we received a reaction from the caretaker minister, which diverts the focus of our questions and uses them to manipulatively blur the issues concerning the impaired impartiality and independence of the institutions. We unconditionally accept and respect the rule of law in Bulgaria and in no way place ourselves above the laws and the institutions that apply them. We seek the truth and we do it publicly because we are convinced that it is important for the whole society.

- The group of deputies from DPS (outside Peevski) met with INT, who have the third mandate in their hands. Cabinet chances are…
- From the conversations we held, it became clear that to a large extent the vision and priorities presented to us coincide with the policies of the DPS. We are satisfied with what we heard at this first meeting, but we will wait to see what other meetings take place and then talk more specifically about our sector policies. We call on all parties in the Bulgarian parliament to declare for the restoration of the rule of law, which includes general government without Peevski. Any effort in this direction is worth the effort.

- It is clear that we are most likely heading for elections. Who will determine the DPS lists?
- The sheets in the authentic DPS are defined and arranged according to clear rules and principles. First, the criteria for the respective elections are announced, after which each organization meets within a specific time frame and in a broad format. Each member has the right to nominate candidates or self-nominate for the relevant elective position. Nominations are arranged alphabetically and CVs are attached to them. At the next stage, the relevant organizations propose a draft arrangement of the lists and a consultation process begins. In the final phase, the lists are approved by the honorary chairman of the DPS, Dr. Ahmed Dogan.
