Children should be taken to the beach between 8 and 10 o'clock, as well as between 4 and 6 p.m. to ensure a safe summer vacation for them. We should not allow children to burn, much less smear them with brandy afterwards.
This is what he said in the show “This Sunday” on bTV the general practitioner Dr. Gergana Nikolova.
Dr. Nikolova emphasized that she has seen small children with second-degree burns and blisters on their bodies because they were left by their parents for a long time in the sun with the idea that this would boost their immunity. However, such behavior ends with the child being hospitalized with severe burns and dehydration.
„In medicine, there is a rule: „First do no harm”. This means that in the first place, the child should not be allowed to get a heat stroke or get sunburned, she explained.
She also pointed out that she sees very young children on the beach who should not be taken to the sea. The specialist also emphasized that you can only go to the beach with children who are at least 6 months old. According to her, babies “have no place on the beach”.
„Going to the sea in the summer is a lot of fun for the little ones, but as Nusic said: “Create conditions for a child to make trouble and if he doesn't, call a doctor”. The possibilities of something unpleasant happening while we are with children at sea are very high, she explained.
According to the specialist, parents are usually afraid of their children entering the water, but the beach and the various attractions, as well as the roads around the sandbars, pose risks.
„It strikes me that most of the children are without swimsuits on the beach. Every child must have a bathing suit, so as not to contaminate their organs with sand, which would create conditions for the emergence of an infection. Parents usually think that when children are baked naked, the effect is better, but this is not the case, Dr. Nikolova also pointed out.
