The Kulata and Makasa border crossings are very busy - 1

Traffic at the Bulgarian border checkpoints at 06:00 is busy in the direction from and to Greece, some points with Romania, as well as on entry from Serbia and Turkey. This is what the report of the Border Police indicates, FOCUS reported.

Here are details on the state of traffic at our border points:

The border with Romania: Traffic is intense at the "Kardam" checkpoint. and border crossing "Nikopol" at the exit for trucks.

In connection with the request of the Romanian border authorities, on 12.08.2024 and 13.08.2024 the working hours of the Nicopol border crossing "ferry" will be in the intervals from 06:00 a.m. to 09:00 a.m. and from 05:00 p.m. to 09:00 p.m. The change is necessary due to a power outage at the Turnu Magurele checkpoint in the time range from 09:00 a.m. to 17:00 on 12/08/2024 and 13/08/2024

Due to a major repair of the Bulgarian section of the Danube bridge near Ruse, a temporary organization of traffic has been introduced, with the traffic taking place in one lane with a through mode and regulated by a traffic light system. In addition to the "Ruse" border crossing, drivers in the region can also go to the "Silistra" border crossing, the "Kardam" border crossing, the "Durankulak" border crossing, the "Kainardja" border crossing. and "Krushari" checkpoint. The last two are open every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., trucks are not allowed to pass through them.

Every Friday from 16:00 to 22:00 the Romanian authorities do not allow trucks through the "Durankulak" checkpoint. in both directions; on Saturdays, Sundays, pre-holidays and public holidays, the limit is from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The border with Greece: Traffic is intense at the checkpoint "Makaza" and the checkpoint "Tower" at the entrance / exit for passenger cars.

In connection with the significantly increased crossings through the border crossing "Kulata” and checkpoint "Makaza" and the large number of Romanian tourists traveling to and from Greece, we recommend the use of alternative checkpoints on the Bulgarian-Greek border, which are less busy and allow faster passage.

Tourists traveling to resorts in the area of Thessaloniki, Kavala and the Halkidiki peninsula can pass through the checkpoint "Ilinden” as an alternative to the "Tower" checkpoint. Tourists traveling to resorts in the area of Xanthi, Komotini and o. Thassos, can use the checkpoint "Zlatograd" as an alternative to the "Makaza" checkpoint. For resorts in the area of the city of Alexandropoulis, it is recommended to go through the "Captain Petko voivoda" checkpoint.

Through the border crossings "Makaza", "Zlatograd“ and "Ivaylovgrad“ only cars and vans are allowed to pass.

The border with the Republic of Serbia: Traffic is intense at the "Kalotina" border crossing. at the entrance for cars.

The border with the Republic of North Macedonia: Traffic is normal at all border checkpoints.

The border with the Republic of Turkey: Traffic is intense at the "Captain Andreevo" checkpoint. at the entrance for cars.
