After the oath in the parliament today, the new ministers in the cabinet also assumed their portfolios. The ceremony in the Ministry of Internal Affairs was followed with the greatest attention.
It was the former minister who became the “apple of discord” and the reason why the president did not sign a decree for Gorica Kozhareva's government. The new minister of power in the office “Glavchev 2“ gave his first television interview to bTV.

Specially to Kanna Racheva, Atanas Ilkov said that he realizes that he is taking over the ministry at a difficult time, when the focus falls on him. According to him, the main task is fair and peaceful elections.
„This is my first day entering this office. How comfortable the chair of the Minister of Internal Affairs is, I will say after a while. Given the situation in the country and all that is to come, this chair will not be very comfortable. I expect it. I am ready for a lot of work and very dynamic days," Atanas Ilkov said.

According to his words, he did not receive offers from other politicians to take up the position of Minister of Internal Affairs.
„I accept myself as the Minister of the Interior. I have no proposals before what Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev has done to me. In this case, I will not comment on what is published in the public space, because it does not correspond to the truth”, he added.

„I wouldn't say that there is a way to be used and then thrown away. I will stand up for the basic principles so that by standing up for those principles, there should be no such moment. Most likely, I will be criticized by certain public organizations or political entities”, Ilkov also said.

When asked how he could guarantee fair elections, he stated that any information that enters the structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be checked very carefully.
“This is a process that we have carried out in the previous elections as well”, emphasized Ilkov.

„As in the previous elections, we had an order to conduct a national specialized police operation in all settlements - where there are Roma neighborhoods, where we had data from previous elections, about vote buying”, commented the new interior minister for bTV.
