I think we will see from the actions whether there is any connection or not. But the other option was to appoint a completely unknown person as Minister of the Interior, who, I think, no one would be able to attack, at least in the first moments. But I am far from convinced that he will deal with the problems at the moment. This was stated in “Your day” on Nova News, the former Minister of Internal Affairs and former chairman of DANS Tsvetlin Yovchev, commenting on the question of why suspicions of political affiliations with Delyan Peevski and Boyko Borisov of the last Interior Ministers Kalin Stoyanov and Atanas Ilkov appeared.
He also commented on the mistakes already made by former interior minister Kalin Stoyanov. It is about taking down the satirical site "New Beginning". "I think this is one of the mistakes of the former interior minister in recent days. He seems to have lost his temper and started making mistakes. The likely reason for attacking this site is that he himself has been the subject of such satirical posts. "The Minister of the Interior must always maintain his presence of mind and act fully within the powers of the law, without creating any doubts that he is acting politically," Yovchev emphasized.
In his words, another mistake of Stoyanov was his participation in the organized protests in front of the Presidency. "In my opinion, these protests were on the edge of the law. Because unions can have union demands. And I think it is not normal for the unions to influence the process of who will be a minister in one way or another. This means turning the governance pyramid upside down. Let's mess up the entire mechanism of democratic governance in the country," he stressed.
Yovchev also told his impressions of his work with Atanas Ilkov from the time when he himself was the interior minister. "From my contacts with him, I will tell you that he is a very good operative and a very good chief of operations. There was a series of mistakes in the whole operation in Lyaskovets. Starting with the fact that the order of the former Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was not carried out by the perpetrator of the crime in question to confiscate his weapons. After that, there were gaps in terms of the preparation and organization of this operation," he said.
And he added: "I am not convinced, I do not remember exactly when and on what occasion Atanas Ilkov was removed. But I have to tell you that hardly the biggest fault for all this preparation is his. But my opinion of him is from that time - that he is one of the few good operatives and good operative chiefs. And the gaps in this operation are a fact, which were seen by the people".
