Kuzman Iliev: Politics is war and division - 1

All citizens see that a very destructive chaos definitely reigns. This creates a feeling of systemic uncertainty. You can't have predictability. You never know what's next tomorrow. There are no stable conditions for businesses to forecast their investments, for people to know whether this political uncertainty will not affect their economic prospects, their incomes, their stability.

This is what he said about the program "Bulgaria, Europe and the world in focus" on Radio "Focus" the political and economic analyst Kuzman Iliev.

"And this is something very negative that we feel psychologically in our lives. We really see how the Bulgarians, unfortunately, are extremely nervous. This thing has been going on for the fourth year already, it's not from now, but definitely the perspective, the direction, the so-called "trend", as our partners in the West say, is not good. And this is the frightening thing, that there is no visible horizon at this stage politically, something to calm the feelings", he also commented.

"Obviously we've reached a threshold. This is a threshold that is systemic, there is some problem in the system, it is not the specific individuals. You can change that it is no longer Borisov, that it is not Peevski, in 2 years there will be other people who will step into these shoes, will be in these functions. Obviously, our system - political, party, electoral - has reached its limit. And we as a society can now really talk about changing the Constitution in the direction of redistribution of positions of power and more responsibility. Now is the time to start the debate. What would be the option in which there would be more responsibility, without the fear of authoritarianism. Presidential or semi-presidential republic - is it dangerous? Obviously, Radev's mandates have passed, but generally, systematically, is it normal in Bulgaria to have a battle more about who will govern through official offices than who will actually take the helm and bear responsibility. And it turned out that all this extraordinary hysteria surrounding the constitutional changes is actually for us to limit the president, to punish him, but somehow through the office, at one point it turns out that we have cemented GERB and DPS in power. And these were our biggest political enemies, I speak here on behalf of “Democratic Bulgaria" and “We continue the change", this democratic reform community. Is this the reform that was wanted? And it turns out that these people, if they can do reform, they're going to take it to the point of making things worse, and in the end, are they the alternative? That is why I say that it is a very painful moment. But in such severe socio-political crises, new ideas are born, new people, new solutions appear, and a different path is systematically taken. This is an opportunity to clean up the system," he added.

Politics is war and division. Not a war in the sense of killing each other, but in reality a very tough battle, believes Kuzman Iliev.

"This is what the new political figures appearing on the field should know, this is not a walk in the park. Here the battle is about the most important thing, which obviously causes a lot of aggression and collides a lot of interests, and that is power. However, the people who today represent the Bulgarian people in the parliament or should represent them, actually do not. And that's what we actually see in the elections, when people don't come out, they say: “We don't believe and we don't trust you to represent us. You do not speak for us". And this is a great degradation, this is an extraordinary problem for those who until that moment had the power, but no longer have the approval of the people, because even dictatorial regimes need the approval of the majority. And here a niche is already emerging that must, it is a historical moment, it is a generational change for new figures to appear to try to win people's trust, and not so much through words, because apparently Bulgarians no longer trust words, but through actions. And you know, not through some loud things, incredible achievements politically, socially, economically, but through personal stability. Normal, predictable, solid people should appear, who inspire confidence, who radiate confidence, who can literally calm the ball down, who can talk normally with their political opponents, so that it doesn't get to the point of acrimony," he explained.

"Of course, I say again, it is clear that the political game is a battle, but still have some ethics and honor. And here the register is extremely lowered, it is felt that the people who enter the political battle are rather extremely outwitted in slandering the opponent. But they don't offer economic solutions, they don't offer energy solutions, they don't offer how to raise our incomes and come out relatively clean from very dangerous geopolitical events around us, let's say several wars that surround us and can engulf us like a whirlpool.

They don't say anything on the subject specifically - how, with what methods? And here already this, even by the people who are involved in their everyday life and live, is becoming more and more difficult to notice, and that's why people are disgusted and say: “We sent them there to behave like professionals. They behave like amateurs, I will not watch them, I will not vote for them". And this, by the way, is an extremely psychological apathy that has gripped the whole society and it can be fatal for an individual, it can be fatal for a nation that has gone from 9 million to 6.5 million and going to 3 million. I want to say that our biggest problem demographically is actually a reflection of the loss of direction, of spirit, of feeling among the people themselves, and politicians are some kind of leaders, after all, they have to set the tone, create conditions for doing business" , concluded Kuzman Iliev.
