Minister Zapryanov: There is a sensitive shortage of personnel in the Guard - 1

30% salary increase in the Bulgarian army is enough as a first step. This was stated by the Acting Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov in the program "The Day Begins". according to BNT.

This measure is overdue. For many years in the labor market, the pay of military personnel was not competitive with others. With this decision, we will receive a minimum salary of about BGN 2,000 per soldier. A problem with recruiting people into the army is the rent they pay. An increase in the military budget to allow us to increase compensation. We will also change the compensation amounts that go abroad, the minister explained.

In his words, there is a sensitive shortage of personnel in the Guard. "It is not just a matter of selecting the garrison, but of encouraging deficient specialties. We are thinking about a special program for the Guardsmen. Let's increase their pay with bonuses. At the moment, the greatest interest is in security guards," added Zapryanov.

"Ground forces are the worst with manning. After the Guard, the ground forces have the biggest deficit," the defense minister also said.

He also commented on the military aid we give to Ukraine and the compensation our country should receive.

"Next year will be the year we talk about what we get. And planes and war machines will appear. Everything we give to Ukraine is based on decisions of the National Assembly. We only give from the surplus. We have stripped nothing of what is necessary for us in time of peace and war. We have transported all declared aid packages. This allows us to receive compensations, Zapryanov explained.

Our help is not Bulgaria's intervention in this war. We help a victim of aggression. All countries do this. Our help is being used at the front, noted Minister Zapryanov.
