The second flight with the evacuated Bulgarian citizens from Lebanon landed at Sofia Airport, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports. The plane left for Beirut at around 13:00. The government plane returned to Bulgaria with 80 people on board.
Thus, the total number of Bulgarians evacuated from Lebanon is 169. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that their evacuation was carried out in the safest way for them, through a flight of the state aviation operator. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to closely monitor the situation in the Middle East region in close coordination with all competent institutions.
About 400 Bulgarian citizens live in Lebanon, but not all of them have expressed a desire to be evacuated from the country.
We remind you that on September 29, 2024, the official cabinet announced that it is starting to gradually evacuate Bulgarian citizens from Lebanon. During the past day, 89 Bulgarians were evacuated.
