New fraud: Hospitals with 700-800 fictitious beds and doctors with fake diplomas - 1

Violations have been found in medical facilities, measures have been taken. These are hospitals with 700-800 fictitious beds and doctors with fake diplomas. Control must be strengthened so that there is no draining of the NHIF. Stricter sanctions are also needed, among them termination of contracts with counterparties in case of fraud of funds. Therefore, there will be sudden and combined checks. For example, inspectors from Plovdiv should check the Varna region so that there are no doubts about the Shurobajan people.

This is what he said in the studio of ''Day Live" Dr. Ivan Kokalov, Chairman of the Federation of Health Care Trade Unions and member of the Supervisory Board of the NHIF.

According to him, it is also possible to restructure medical facilities, for example hospitals becoming diagnostic centers with fewer beds. "We found 700-800 fictitious hospital beds. There are also abuses of diplomas, in some places the doctors do not have a specialty, that's why we remove certain paths from the relevant medical facility, he added.

Dr. Kokalov also commented on the case with Stanimir Mihailov, whom the Constitutional Court restored to the post of manager of the NHIF. "It is important to have one so that we can work. An annex with him is about to be concluded. Legal cases may arise, but we are bound to comply with the court's decision. Stanimir Mihailov wants to return to his post based on this decision," he explained.

"During the already voted budget of the NHIF, decisions were made that put a burden on it, so there may have been an excess of funds. So was the coverage of cardiovascular drugs. We asked the regional cashiers to give us a report on the implementation of the budgets, and in some places there are increases, but they are not significant. We haven't even used up our reserve yet. We have determined estimated budgets for each hospital, but there are no limits. Historically, based on the demand for health care, if the activity is exceeded, we will pay. There have been no fines for hospitals, and there won't be, assured Dr. Kokalov.
