At the moment there is a very serious geopolitical debate. It is very interesting that the pro-Nazi and fascist parties for the most part sympathize with Putin, and he says he is fighting against the Nazis. This is what he said in the show "More from the day" on BNT the former Minister of Foreign Affairs Nadezhda Neinski on the occasion of the victory of the far-right Freedom Party in the parliamentary elections in Austria.

Democratic societies have the ability to hold debates that totalitarian states do not. Part of these debates are used by the opponents of democratic states in order to instill fear of some geopolitical processes. At the moment, the two big topics are migrants and the war Russia – Ukraine, she declared.

The election results in Austria raise many questions for Europe. If the leader of the Freedom Party manages to form a government, there is a possibility that a bloc of countries such as Hungary, Slovakia, maybe the Czech Republic and Austria will be created in the European Union. But I think it won't come to that as Europe's immune system will be triggered. The threat to democracy is something that is taken into account in Europe, Neinski pointed out.

In her words, the decision-making rules in the European Union must be changed.

At the moment, the stake is extremely high and Europe cannot afford certain countries to become an obstacle to its policies by imposing a veto, noted the former foreign minister.

According to Nadezhda Neinski, Bulgaria's and Romania's chances of entering the land-based Schengen also depend most on internal elections, and not on foreign political factors. We need a political solution to fulfill the criteria. There is no way Bulgaria will ask for a solution if it does not emit signals of predictability and stability. If we have a clear pro-European and reformist government in the next 4 years, our chances increase a lot. The efforts of Bulgarian politicians should be directed towards these elections. The higher the voter turnout, the greater the probability that the government will not depend on engineering projects that advance oligarchic interests, Neinsky also said.

The Council of the EU will discuss on October 10 the issue of Schengen in relation to Bulgaria and Romania.
