Workers in Sofia's municipal transport companies are preparing for strikes, announced the Federation of Transport Trade Unions - KNSB.
Social tension in the capital's public transport increased after a meeting held on October 4 with the Mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev, and the Deputy Mayor for Transport, Iliyan Pavlov, which did not lead to a result. It discussed the financial possibilities of the SO for financing the agreed bonus system for those working in the municipal transport companies.
The requirements of the FTS are:
– Implementation of the signed agreement with Sofia Municipality and introduction of the agreed bonus system for salary increases within this year;
– An increase in basic salaries by a minimum of 15% from 2025 in sync with the expected increase in unemployment benefits;
– Immediate payment of the funds owed by the state to the municipality.
If the demands are not heard, the FTS will take protest actions immediately after the parliamentary elections.
