He pointed out that the sanctions against Russia are somewhat ineffective because not all countries can be made to comply with them. And he clarified that these are countries like Iran, China and North Korea.
Stanchev also said that NATO should join Ukraine, not the other way around. “Support for Ukraine is the only possible scenario for ending the war. Freezing the conflict or a Russian victory means other wars. And they are already happening. What is happening in Israel is a consequence of what is happening in Russia. And even, I suppose, with the help of Russia”, the economist added.
He said that $650 billion is needed to rebuild Ukraine.
Stanchev also pointed out that the next expansion of NATO will not include Ukraine, but Japan, which is also threatened by war.
