The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that so far the consulate general of our country in Valencia, no official information has been received confirming the information about a Bulgarian woman who was found dead as a result of the floods in Spain. Two Bulgarian citizens are missing after the devastating floods in Valencia. Relatives of both have been notified, and authorities are looking for them.
The information that is being circulated in groups of Bulgarians living in Spain is about two of our compatriots, whom no one has been able to contact for two days. One is 55 years old, and the other is 57. The Consul General of Bulgaria in Valencia, Nadia Krasteva, confirmed:
"There is such information that is from yesterday. It is about two missing people whose relatives are looking for them, but we have no information about a woman who went to the doctor.
Bulgarian National Radio has sent an official request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to confirm all alarm signals being sent out in Bulgarian groups, and about the situation in Valencia County.
By order of Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, the Bulgarian institutions are ready to provide assistance to the Spanish side after the floods in the Valencia region, the Council of Ministers reported on its official Facebook page. If support is requested from the authorities in Madrid, the civil protection mechanism will be immediately activated to provide the necessary assistance. In short terms, the Bulgarian state can also provide tents, blankets and other basic necessities, the announcement states.
The total number of dead is now 214 people. Almost all the deaths are in the Valencia region. About 1,700 soldiers are involved in the search for survivors and rescue operations in the area. Thousands of volunteers also participate in the cleanup.
