The first meeting for the election of the Speaker of the 51st National Assembly will resume on November 22 (Friday) at 10:00 a.m. This was announced by Silvi Kirilov, chairing the meeting, from "There is such a people". There is still no candidate that can unite the parties in the parliament around him. BSP- United Left continues to raise Assoc. Natalia Kiselova, who is from the civil quota. When to expect a denouement… Maya Dimitrova, MP from the BSP-United Left, spoke to FAKTI.
- Mrs. Dimitrova, how tied is the knot for the election of the Speaker of the National Assembly. Why there is no consensus around one figure. Four picks gone?
- It really is. Four elections for the Speaker of the National Assembly have passed and, unfortunately, they have all been unsuccessful. It turned out that it is no longer a question of electing the Speaker of the National Assembly and there is no knot tied at all. From the rostrum of the National Assembly it was clearly said that the battle is not for the Speaker of the Parliament, but the battle for the Acting Prime Minister.
- Everyone has their own opinion, but how workable is it?
- Of course, each parliamentary group sticking to its own is ineffective and does not lead to solving the crises in which we are mired, but everyone has their arguments that they defend.
It is necessary for each group to rethink its behavior, to put aside narrow party interests and to find the best solution for the state and the people in dialogue.
- BSP-United Left is promoting the lawyer Assoc. Natalia Kiselova, who is from the civil quota. How much longer will you go on like this?
- BSP-United Left nominates the candidacy of Assoc. Natalia Kiselova for Speaker of the National Assembly, because she is a professional and a constitutionalist. With the voting of this candidacy and accordingly with the election of Assoc. Kiselova as president of the National Assembly, confidence in the institution will increase. Our parliamentary group is the only one that puts forward a cross-party candidacy and we are the only ones that adhere to the principle of equal distance, unlike the other parliamentary groups that have made narrow-party proposals.
How long this will last will become clear from the votes and, last but not least, from the talks between the political forces.
- In many of the votes for the various candidates, the BSP-United Left voted “abstained”. Why? What are you showing with this?
- In its votes for the candidates of the other parliamentary groups for the Speaker of the National Assembly, our parliamentary group voted “abstained” because this is consistent behavior and we show the same attitude to all proposals.
- Are the comments to you just political banter that you are BSP-United Left - a new beginning. How would you define the strength of your parliamentary group?
- I think it is extremely frivolous to claim that our parliamentary group has anything to do with “New Beginning”. When making decisions in the group, we have always been guided by the decisions of our collective bodies. Even though there are only 20 people's representatives, our votes matter and this is evident from the votes, we are consistent in all our actions.
- BSP-United Left believes that the most successful model for getting out of the crisis would be an expert government, equally distant from the parties and with clear political support. Can it happen, do you believe it is acceptable to others…
- The proposal of the BSP-United Left to form an expert cabinet is not from now on. We believe that at this stage and in the state in which the parliament is and the impossibility of electing even a speaker of the National Assembly, the only possible way out of the crisis is an expert cabinet with the setting of the most urgent issues for the country. To what extent this is acceptable to the other parliamentary groups, it will become clear when it comes to the negotiating table.
- BSP-United Left met with PP-DB and announced that you accept their entire package of anti-corruption measures. But this is quite far in time, because the parliament must be constituted first. What are the chances that the National Assembly will work?
- We stated that we accept the entire package of anti-corruption measures, which means that we will work on the legislation in this direction, because it is really necessary for the country, but this does not mean that we will accept all the bills proposed by them without debates and without our proposals. How far in time this is, will show the will of the first and second political forces, which are responsible for electing the President of the National Assembly and, accordingly, for forming a government.
- Are you ready to participate in management and under what conditions?
- Until now, in none of the meetings in which the BSP-United Left parliamentary group participated, there were no talks about forming a government. In addition, you know that we have a decision of Congress not to participate in management with GERB and DPS.
