They rescued tourists who got lost on Vitosha, dariknews.bg reported, referring to a message from the Mountain Rescue Service - Sofia Squad.
On Saturday afternoon at the Central Day Post of the PSS via tel. 112 received a report of lost tourists in the area of the peak. Selimitsa.
The information is about a boy and a girl who left from Vr. Selimitsa to Cherni vrah, but because of the thick fog and the hurricane wind, they lost the trail.
A group of 9 people, rescuers on duty from the 4th duty group, was formed, and a second group from Sofia is heading to the place. Due to the snowfall, there are fallen trees on the road, which prevent PSS vehicles from reaching the exit point.
Thanks to the timely and expeditious intervention of the emergency teams of the Metropolitan Municipality, the road was cleared and the rescuers reached the starting point and a little later found the tourists behind rocks in the area of Mt. Selimitsa. The tourists were in the initial phase of hypothermia.
A transport was organized and they were taken down to a safe place. The conditions are difficult and there is not enough snow for moving snowmobiles, which has further complicated the action.
Everyone returned home unharmed. Mountain Rescue Service - Detachment Sofia, expresses its gratitude to the Emergency Teams of the Capital Municipality, who are currently on the ground clearing the road.
The PSS reminds that it is already winter in the mountains and the conditions require careful planning.
