Is it possible that while you are driving on a road with right of way in front of you, another driver who claims the right of way is in the way and a conflict ensues? NOVA reported a similar hypothesis at a busy intersection in Sofia. Kiselinov clarified that it is about the intersection of Blvd. “Tsar Boris III“ and st. “Grain“ in the “Krasno selo” area.
The chairman of the Association of Motorists' Qualification in Bulgaria, Krasimir Georgiev, explained that in this case it is a simultaneous permitting signal. “When it lights up, all road users affected by the signal are equal. Those in the local lane have priority”, he said.
„As a driver with more than 30 years experience, I think that the bigger and main road should always have priority. In this case, it is an absolute paradox, because the cars in the local area suddenly appear and turn out to be on the right of those coming to the big boulevard,“, noted Kiselinov.
„As it is organized according to the Law, those from the local lane have priority over those who turn right from the boulevard,“, the chairman of the Association of Motorists Qualification in Bulgaria also pointed out. However, according to Kiselinov, at the time when he was taking driving courses, it was the exact opposite. Namely, the main road always has priority.
Georgiev, however, emphasized that the Law has been changed. “Those who are right-handed have an advantage. At this point it can be decided in another way – to remove the traffic light in the local, to put a sign of no right of way and then the traffic will be unblocked, he added.
