The deputies registered a tenth failure to elect a chairman of the National Assembly. Silvi Kirilov was again nominated by ITN. “Revival” nominated Petar Petrov for the position, and PP-DB - Atanas Atanasov. “BSP - United Left” reaffirmed Natalia Kiselova's candidacy.
„Today we are once again at a historical crossroads in a moment that will remain not only in the minutes of the National Assembly, but also in history textbooks. Our choice should not be dictated by party selfishness and personal ambitions,” said Pavela Mitova from ITN.
„We reaffirm our nomination for Speaker of the National Assembly - lawyer Petar Petrov. We believe that he is the most suitable and we hope for approval, said Kosta Stoyanov from "Vazrazhdane".
„ Only Atanas Atanasov can pave the way in this National Assembly to make efforts for a regular government,” said Nadezhda Yordanova from PP-DB.
„We once again raise the candidacy of Assoc. Dr. Natalia Kiselova. This is the person the Bulgarian parliament needs right now. It is not by chance that our parliamentary group strives to hold a dialogue. We believe that the most suitable at this moment is Assoc. Kiselova. We call for support and to solve this case finally”, insisted Borislav Gutsanov from “BSP - United Left”.
After the parties' proposals for chairman, PP-DB deputy Ivaylo Mirchev proposed an hour's break. The chairman of the meeting dissolved the people's representatives for 30 minutes. There were no discussions on the applications.
Voting
Atanas Atanasov's candidacy was put to the vote first. 56 deputies (PP-DB and APS) supported it, 92 were against it, and 89 abstained. After the proposal for him to head the parliament was not accepted, his nomination was re-voted. Then 56 MPs were “for”, 93 did not support it, and 89 abstained.
„For” 88 deputies (GERB-SDS and BSP/) voted for Natalia Kiselova. She was not supported by 61 people's representatives, and 89 abstained. Her candidacy was re-voted. Then the votes for her were 88 “for”, 61 “against” and 89 “abstained”. The proposal was not accepted.
Peter Petrov from “Revival” gathered 61 votes “for” /„Vazrazhdane”, ITN and MECH/, 132 deputies declared against his nomination, and 45 abstained. The proposal was not accepted.
The oldest member of parliament nominated for chairman by ITN – Silvi Kirilov, received the support of 82 deputies /”Vazrazhdane”, APS, ITN and MECH/. 120 were “against” and 36 abstained. The proposal was not accepted.
Natalia Kiselova and Silvi Kirilov went to the runoff. After which the leader of the “BSP - United Left” Atanas Zafirov asked for a 90-minute break. A 30-minute break was initially announced, which was extended for another half hour.
On the runoff “for” Kiselova, there were 89 people's representatives, 60 voted "against" and 88 abstained. The proposal was not accepted and there was a re-voting, after which the results were: 118 votes “for”, 30 “against” and 90 abstained. 99 deputies supported Kirilov, 120 were against, and 19 abstained. The proposal was not accepted.
