"The delegation of DPS in the European Parliament categorically condemns the act of President Rumen Radev against the spirit of The Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria for not allowing a party represented in parliament until the consultations to form a government", this is what the Bulgarian member of the EP Elena wrote on her personal Facebook profile Yoncheva.
"This unprecedented decision is a step towards destroying statehood and undermining the rule of law. It is a clear signal of the imposition of one-man power that tramples democratic norms in an EU member state," she added.
"In this way, nearly 300 thousand Bulgarian, European citizens are deprived of political representation. We intend to notify all responsible European institutions of the gross violation of the principles of political pluralism," the legislator added on the social network.
"The President should embody the unity of the nation. We have repeated this phrase many times. We remind you that it is part of the basic law of the Republic of Bulgaria – Art. 92 para. 1", Yoncheva ended her post with these words.
