Vigenin: Kiselova would be a good caretaker prime minister, but we are far from that - 1

"Natalia Kiselova could be a good caretaker prime minister. But I think we are far from that. And besides, let's keep in mind that even during a caretaker cabinet - it is good for the National Assembly to have a chairman. Since the parliament is constantly operating, and this would mean decapitating it. After all, it took the deputies a month to elect a chairman. The president has other options. I think things will get sorted out. We should not speculate on what, who and why. This is the president's job".

This was stated to NOVA NEWS by the deputy chairman of the BSP, Kristian Vigenin.

Vigenin added that he expects the Constitutional Court to expedite the decision on the issue of the president's powers to appoint a caretaker prime minister. "It is obvious that this is an incorrect and clumsy decision. It is on the verge, as it is no coincidence that we have made our requests to the Constitutional Court. Because the National Assembly did not have the right to such a change. Such changes are more for the Grand National Assembly, because they significantly change the powers of the institutions", he emphasized.

The Deputy Chairman of the BSP commented and also commented on the upcoming National Council of the party on Sunday. "One of the topics will be the talks with GERB-SDF, to which we were invited. However, let the National Council first decide that we will participate in these talks. That is the attitude, of course. This will be the proposal of the Executive Bureau - to participate in these, I emphasize talks, not negotiations, for a cabinet. We will also identify the main topics that are a priority for us in such talks".

And he added: "But still, we must take into account that we are the fifth political force in this National Assembly. And if someone expects us to solve the problems of the state, I think we will overestimate ourselves".

Vigenin was categorical that the National Council must say how it will approach the talks with GERB-SDF. "Should we, however, concentrate a little more on common things and leave the red lines on the back burner, in order to give a chance at least to start some talks. But I think that the BSP cannot give up its essential policies in order to have a government. Nobody wants to go to the polls, but there is no way that politically we will be the ones who will take such steps backward that we will discredit our own members and sympathizers," he stressed.

When asked in the talks with GERB-SDF whether the BSP would discuss the possibility of being only in the majority, but not participating in the government? "In any case, there is no question of the typical political coalition. That is, a political interaction, a political governing majority, since we are the only left-wing party in this parliament. And I do not see how we could participate in such a type of government. Semantics matter, because it is not without importance what this cabinet is and what it is called. If this is an expert government with a prime minister who is not a political figure - we could, with broader support, participate in a majority that would support him. "But before that, a very clear program and some deadline must be agreed upon, which can be revised later if things go well," he is categorical.
