Ivan Takov remains chairman of the BSP - Sofia City Council with the trust of 76.4% (136 votes) of the delegates at the XV reporting and election conference. The meeting was held yesterday, and after the withdrawals, only two candidates remained for the post. Ivan Takov's competitor was Boris Tsvetkov, former chairman of the BSP Regional Organization in "Iskar". 24.16% of the delegates or 43 people voted for him.
This is Ivan Takov's first official term in office, as until now he was completing the term of former chairman Kaloyan Pargov, who was punished by the previous BSP leadership.
A new composition of the City Council was also elected at the conference meeting, which for the upcoming 4-year term will number 91 people. 16 of the members are under 35 years of age, and the youngest was born in 2003.
The City Control Commission also has a new leadership. Georgi Hristov was elected chairman, and its composition numbers 17 people.
The delegates adopted a decision of the conference by a large majority, by which they categorically oppose the direct election of the BSP chairman. With it, they insist on making changes to the party's Statute, with which the election of the leadership would once again be made by the delegates to the congress.
"I thank you sincerely for the great trust, said Ivan Takov. - This is a very high assessment of the work we have done over the past almost 3 years. At the same time, it is a huge responsibility for our actions from now on".
The chairman of the BSP - Sofia noted that the newly elected leaderships of the regional, municipal and district organizations throughout the country must immediately begin to build the party as a well-functioning system. "We need to revive the BSP organizationally as soon as possible. To bring back party life and to meaningfully fulfill the activities of our structures, he said. - To hold meetings, discussions, conferences, to discuss left-wing policies, to give ideas and proposals. To awaken party life, we need a program, first of all, addressed to our social base. To the citizens we represent - working people, families, people in disadvantaged situations and the young. It is the young who should be the main focus of this program. The BSP must look to the future, to become the party of the future. Because the left-wing idea is a rebellious idea, it is inherent in the young. Through them, we must awaken the party from its deep sleep. And then the rebellious left-wing idea must awaken Bulgaria".
The guest of the XV reporting and election conference of the BSP - Sofia was the Speaker of the National Assembly and MP from Sofia Assoc. Prof. Natalia Kiselova. The hall was attended by the acting Speaker of the BSP and MP from Sofia Atanas Zafirov, the co-chairman of the parliamentary group of "BSP - United Left" Borislav Gutsanov, MEPs Kristian Vigenin and Tsvetelina Penkova, MPs from Sofia Gabriel Valkov and Atanas Atanasov, who are also delegates, and the former chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party - Sofia Kaloyan Pargov.
