„The changes in the Judiciary Law are not something that can hinder the formation of a government. If a cabinet is not formed, then the reason will be different”. This was said by political scientist Tatyana Burudzhieva in the studio of „Hello, Bulgaria”.
According to her colleague Daniel Smilov, there are differences in the positions of the PP and the DB, but regarding the declaration of the „sanitary cordon” they are of the same opinion. “If GERB has a serious intention to work with PP-DB, it is logical to clear up the issue with the document”, he explained.
”We would be mistaken if we think that Boyko Borisov is reacting emotionally without any thought. He is a very experienced politician. The problem with the declaration is twofold. It is not only the cordon around Peevski, but also things regarding management decisions. The signing of this declaration by GERB means that the party agrees to do the management that PP imposes”, Burudzhieva believes.
In her words, it is important to elect a prosecutor general who will act in the national interest.
”The only element in the declaration is the cordon, and part of it has been implemented. But the more important part is not to appoint people from “DPS-New Beginning” as regulators and not to vote for their candidacies. GERB is clearly having difficulty with this element. The other things are related to the three laws on the PVP, which must be adopted anyway. And the question of the election of Borislav Sarafov remains”, added Smilov.
According to him, the agreement must be made according to the balance of political forces.
„It is logical for GERB to defend the position that they bear responsibility for a possible next government. The second step is to share it with one partner, and the third - to invite the other political forces to a conversation”, Burudzhieva pointed out.
According to her, the position of „Democratic Bulgaria” is the politically correct one. „You go to talks, you agree on what to write in the agreement and it is signed. However, everything will be resolved only if the declaration is signed,” Burudzhieva added.
According to Smilov, Bulgaria needs a government.
“The budget is a formalization of policies. You can't do anything in the state if the budget isn't there. When in the most political act there is such a drastic increase in money for services, this shows policies towards the services. We need to ask ourselves who was the one who submitted the proposal”, Burudzhieva also commented.
