There are grounds for the license of the Sofia Municipality's waste plant to be revoked and for it to close. This was stated at a briefing in the municipality by councilors Vanya Tagareva, Anna Stoykova, Lorita Radeva and Anton Hekimyan from the GERB-SDF group in the Sofia Municipal Council (SOC).
According to them, this is a matter of documentary and financial fraud on a particularly large scale. The waste plant has falsified the quantities of deposited waste that are sent to the "Sadinata" landfill, Vanya Tagareva said. She said that "in just one year, the new management of the Sofia Municipality has turned the most modern plant we built into a landfill".
According to a comprehensive permit – a document based on which the plant is given the right to deposit waste, the legal norm is the deposit of 146 thousand tons per year, and from January to November 157,718 tons of waste were deposited, Tagareva pointed out. With the documentary fraud, they brought the numbers to 129,000 tons, the municipal councilor pointed out. According to her, the data from the monthly reports submitted to the Regional Inspectorate for Environment, Water and Environment were altered, and the numbers were corrected so that they meet the legal norm.
Tagareva explained that each deposited waste is paid to the state, the so-called deductions. Currently, 10 million leva should be paid. to the state, but with the rewriting of the data, 7 million leva will be paid, as much as is planned in the current plan-account. Tagareva called on the prosecutor's office to inspect the waste plant.
The municipal councilor also said that for months, municipal councilors from the GERB-SDF group have not been allowed into the waste plant because crimes are happening inside, Vanya Tagareva said.
The data that GERB-SDF has is sent monthly by the deputy mayor for ecology Nadezhda Bobcheva and Nikolay Savov to the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water. Yesterday, with the letter signed by Bobcheva, in the appendix together with the letter, we see the rewritten table of quantities, said Tagareva. She emphasized that the documents are official, have been submitted to the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection and are available in the Sofia Municipality's filing system.
Anton Hekimyan stated at the briefing that the data is extremely scandalous because it is a matter of falsification of information and document fraud. "This plant is a hollow box through which garbage passes and is deposited", said Hekimyan. According to him, it is a "big scheme by Nikolay Savov and Vasil Terziev". They are trying to conceal amounts that they owe to the state - nearly 3 million leva. They are also trying to conceal information that could lead to the revocation of the plant's license, added Anton Hekimyan.
The GERB-SDF group also announced at the briefing that they will not support the cleanliness budget proposed by the Sofia Municipality leadership for 2025.
