We will not be able to review the budget law until the end of the year. However, it is extremely important to adopt an extension law for the current budget, which will come into force on January 1. This was shared with journalists on the sidelines of the parliament by the co-chairman of "We continue the change" Assen Vassilev, quoted by novini.bg
He also highlighted the consequences to the media if the caretaker government does not introduce the extension law today or by tomorrow at the latest.
According to Assen Vassilev, there will be no legal basis for collecting health contributions, which is 30 million leva of lost revenue per day for the country.
There will be no compensation for electricity for businesses - neither will the money for compensation be able to be collected, nor will it be able to be distributed, because there will be no legal basis. This means that businesses will have to pay stock exchange prices, without a ceiling, and we all know what this means for inflation in the country, Vassilev pointed out.
He also noted that there will be no minimum pension, as the maximum pension will fall from 3,400 leva to 2,250 leva. Accordingly, the payment of pensions on January 7 will be put at risk because the National Social Security Institute will not have a legal basis on which to grant the minimum pensions in their amount and the maximum pensions will have to be recalculated.
The former Finance Minister also explained that there will be no maximum social security income, there will be no food vouchers, there will be no unemployment benefits, there will be no family benefits, there will be no maternity benefits for the second year, and the tax relief for children will fall from 600 to 20 leva per child per year. The one-time birth allowance will also not be available.
Therefore, we call on the Council of Ministers today or tomorrow to submit an extension law so as not to stop the entire state system, both in the revenue and expenditure parts, appeals Assen Vassilev.
In addition, the PP-DB MP reminded that the parliament still does not have standing committees and in this regard asked the other parties in the National Assembly to create at least the Budget and Finance Committee, in case the caretaker government submits the extension law on the budget tomorrow.
