At the beginning of today's regular session of parliament, the deputies decided to rest during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays in the period from December 22, 2024 to January 5, 2025. The proposal, which was by Natalia Kiselova, was approved with 211 votes “for”, one MP voted against, and nine abstained.
The proposal for a Christmas vacation of the PP-DB for the period from December 24 to January 1 was not supported in the hall and so in the end the MPs accepted Natalia Kiselova's proposal.
My arguments are that the National Assembly can work within the days from January 6 onwards, Natalia Kiselova argued her proposal for the duration of the vacation.
She pointed out that this one week can be used in connection with the activities of the committees on budget and finance and on legal issues, as well as to begin preparations for the new budget year and on parliamentary commitments.
According to the Rules of Procedure for the Organization and Activities of the National Assembly, the MPs were supposed to be on vacation from December 22, 2024 to January 10, 2025.
After voting for the Christmas vacation, the deputies completed the composition of the Budget and Finance Committee and the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee. However, the deputies voted not to elect the leadership of the two committees (chairman and deputy chairmen).
After the formation of the two committees, regular parliamentary control began.
