Lena Borislavova: GERB had no intention of entering the eurozone - 1

PP-DB is the only opposition in this parliament - Delyan Peevski is not an opposition, GERB does what he tells them, and "Vazrazhdane" helps push through GERB's decisions. This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Lena Borislavova, a PP-DB MP, specifying:

"What we saw was that from GERB's plan, which they had - to stop entering the eurozone, because of the clearly set focus and raising this topic by us, in the role of opposition, supported by the strong public reaction, which showed that Bulgarians want to enter the eurozone, GERB took a turn. ... GERB's intention was not to make this move this year, because it risks the majority of a government that was very difficult to form. Due to pressure from the opposition, Boyko Borisov had to come out and say that after submitting the budget in February, they will demand a convergence report. The statements of their political partners show that GERB has taken a turn, they had no intention of entering the eurozone.

In connection with the claim of a "hole" of 18 billion leva in the state budget, Borislavova pointed out that the budgets made by Asen Vassilev have not left such a hole.

"Whether there will be such a hole in the next budget - this depends on the next budget that GERB and their partners set. ... All foreign agencies that have no political bias say that there is no problem with Bulgaria's finances," Lena Borislavova pointed out.

GERB wants to introduce the policy of "lean pizza" and that's why they want to instill fear, she believes.

In the words of Lena Borislavova, the suspension of the procedure for the election of Borislav Sarafov as Prosecutor General is not a judicial reform, it is not even a good start to a reform:

"We cannot, by removing specific people who are dependent and corrupt, say that we have cured the judiciary, because we are treating a symptom, but not removing the root cause".

She emphasized that "the path we had taken - to reform the corrupt system through changes in how the SJC is issued - is currently blocked by a decision of the Constitutional Court and judicial reform cannot be done on this path, at least not with this political majority".

"PP-DB is working on very specific proposals through which persons who participate in corruption can be held accountable. This will not be done by the prosecutor's office and it shows. ... The ruling majority has no concept of how to fight corruption".

In the program "12+3" Borislavova explained that parliamentary immunity is used for "political deals between all those who like certain people to be kept dependent in order to do what they need to do - when they need to":

"For this reason, in order not to be in such dependence, I gave my immunity, as I know that I have no reason to worry, because I did not do what they accuse me of. On the other hand, however, I opposed the removal of the immunities of persons from Dogan's parliamentary group with my vote. Not because I believe they are innocent, I am not the person who will make this assessment... But for the simple reason that the way in which they were requested, as well as the moment when they were requested, is entirely consistent with political goals and repression aimed at persons who can say something against Delyan Peevski.

According to her, it is very indicative that from the currently ruling majority there is not a single representative with requested immunity, despite the fact that in the ranks of the GERB and BSP parties there are persons sanctioned under the "Magnitsky".
