They are removing the black box from the crashed medical helicopter. The investigation into the causes will be public, the National Board for the Investigation of Air and Rail Accidents announced to NOVA.
On Tuesday, during a rescue mission - on the way to Bansko, our only medical helicopter made an emergency landing near Samokov.
A public investigation will be conducted into the case, assured the chairman of the National Board for the Investigation of Accidents in Air, Water and Rail Transport Hristo Hristov. The information will be extracted from the helicopter's black box on Thursday, and reports will be requested from the crew.
According to him, there were several violations. The first - the names of the pilots were not written in the flight plan. In addition, in such an incident, the crew is obliged to immediately notify the investigating authority. However, this did not happen. The crew later reported that the oil pressure in one of the engines had dropped.
„There was a forced landing. There are problems with the pressure in one of the engines, but that's it. I doubt it, but these are assumptions without any evidence that some temporary signaling worked, which was not exactly real. This could be a software error that appeared on the helicopter's main computer. They established it on board - they landed, but then who gave the permission to go back, this is a mystery to me. If everything was normal, why didn't they go to Bansko, but return to the base? "So there are suspicions of something wrong," said Hristov, the chairman of the National Board for the Investigation of Accidents in Air, Water and Rail Transport.
On Wednesday, it became clear that the 29-year-old Irish tourist, for whom the rescue operation was intended, had died in the hospital.
