A protest by the Serbian community in our country was held today at noon in front of the Serbian embassy building, NOVA reported.
This happened against the backdrop of ongoing protests in our western neighbor.
The demonstration began with a 15-minute silent march. It was in memory of the victims of the tragedy in Novi Sad, where a collapse of a railway station roof claimed the lives of 15 people.
The initiative aims to raise awareness in the international community, say the organizers of the demonstration. The protesters want those responsible for the tragedy and the government to take responsibility.
„The right path is freedom of speech. In my opinion, this is the main thing. Stronger institutions, which will be led by a quality opposition and quality new people and full democracy, that is, free elections, because we have had elections that were stolen several times in the past. This is something that also leads to the situation that Serbia is in at the moment,” commented Djordje Daskalovic, who joined the protest. According to Zlatan Markov, the desired result of the protesters is to have a free state and conditions for holding free elections in Serbia.
