Ministry of Interior proposes: In case of non-payment of a fine on the spot, the vehicle should be stopped from traffic - 1

New ideas, resignations and repairs of critical sections - this is what the authorities' measures for the war on the roads look like as of today. The Minister of the Interior proposes that the police should fine violators on the spot, and if not paid, the vehicle should be stopped from traffic.

The Regional Minister, in turn, demanded the resignations of senior officials at the Road Agency, but not its boss.

Meanwhile, the first repair of dangerous sections, which began today, is near the village of Bulgarian Spring.

At exactly 12 o'clock, the securing of the first dangerous section began with the laying of markings. The goal - to separate traffic with stakes.

This limits risky overtaking along the entire road to Sevlievo.

“There are six such sections along the entire route, which is a total of 62 km in terrain. But stakes will be installed at 25 km as sections“, explained Eng. Ivan Genov, Head of the Regional Road Administration-Lovech, BTV reported.

According to drivers, however, the reasons for the victims on the roads are much more.

As a measure against aggressive drivers, Interior Minister Daniel Mitov wants unmarked police cars to control traffic.

“The possibility for the police to fine on the spot, to sanction on the spot. In order to increase the collection rate and prevent violators from thinking they will get away with it“, said Mitov.

The regional minister requested and received the resignations of two RIA chiefs - the director of "Road Infrastructure Maintenance" in RIA and the head of the "Investment and Repair Activities" department in the Pleven Regional Road Administration.

The decision comes after the investigation into the incident in which 12-year-old Siyana died. Experts will be able to appear in court more often via video conference, which will speed up the progress of cases in accidents, and other changes are also planned.

Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, for his part, requested enhanced measures and inspections on the roads as early as Easter.

„Traffic will increase. "I want the available staff to be prepared and available to create the necessary respect among road users," said Zhelyazkov.

Police officers will monitor speed, alcohol and drug use during the holidays, the prime minister also promised.
