Karadjov on the tragedies on our roads: Our indiscipline remains the number one factor - 1

Corruption is always one of the reasons for most of the troubles that befall us. However, the biggest factor remains us, the people. This was said on NOVA NEWS by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Grozdan Karadjov.

The relevant minister cited data from which it became clear that the most pedestrians died on the road - 104.

Our indiscipline on the road remains the number one factor. Collisions with another vehicle can also hardly be blamed on poor infrastructure or corruption. Only in the event of a crash with a roadside facility, such as a guardrail, for example, can it be assumed that the road is a co-cause of the accident, the Deputy Prime Minister added.

He emphasized that the main problem with road accidents in our country is not so much the roads as the systematic violators, who, in his words, do everything possible to escape punishment. However, he expressed hope that with the entry into use of the toll booth cameras, the situation will change. He added that by the beginning of the summer, the new law will come into force, according to which every road violator will be forced to pay his fine on the spot.

Regarding BDZ, Minister Karadjov announced that by August next year we will receive 12 brand new trains out of a total of 35, which will be fully paid for from the funds under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan. The remaining 23 locomotives will be paid for from the state budget.

There is no way that all the trains will be fully paid for under the Public Works Budget, because the plan itself provides for payment from the Bulgarian budget, i.e. we are talking about joint financing, the relevant minister explained.

As for tomorrow's vote of no confidence, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that the government is stable, and this stability comes from the approval of the people who prefer to have a regular cabinet.

There will be no change of government in the foreseeable future. These votes are like some kind of show for the opposition, he pointed out.

At the conclusion of the conversation, Grozdan Karadjov assured that post offices will remain post offices and they will not develop retail activities.

I do not know what the plans of the Ministry of Agriculture are, but we will not open shops in post offices, the minister was categorical.
