Residents of Belashtitsa protested in front of the private clinic in Plovdiv, where the 6-year-old child died after being given anesthesia during a dental procedure, Nova TV reports.
Under the motto "Justice for Angel", relatives and friends of the family gathered in front of the private dental clinic where the boy lost his life on April 4. They carried posters with the inscriptions "medical negligence kills", "negligence took Angel", "trial for Angel's killers". Among those who joined the discontent are many mothers with children, teachers from Angel's kindergarten, as well as residents who sympathized with the tragedy. The protesters tried to storm the clinic and demand an explanation from the owner and manager about what happened. The police did not let them in, after which water bottles flew and several windows of the clinic were broken.
According to information from "Focus", as a sign of sympathy for the parents' protest and tragedy, the police took off their hats, and their action was greeted by the gathered people with thunderous applause.
One of the organizers of the protest - Rositsa Ivanova, was categorical - going to the dentist cannot be a risk to life. "All those responsible must bear responsibility, you cannot take your child to have his teeth treated and have him come out in a coffin. We want an effective sentence for those responsible for the child's death - because there should have been doctors to keep him under observation, and not for him to be without nurses and an oxygen mask for 2 hours. Irresponsibility, arrogance and negligence have been shown", she said.
The protesters demanded legislative changes - mandatory allergy tests for every child up to 18 years of age before anesthesia, cameras in the operating rooms of private and public hospitals, as well as effective sentences for Angel's doctors. According to NOVA, the manager is in the clinic building.
Angel's mother asked the nurses who did not provide assistance to her child in time to give her a public explanation.
We recall that in early April, a 6-year-old child from Plovdiv died after dental treatment. Angel had caries and pulpitis. After several dentists refused to treat him, the parents agreed to have it done under general anesthesia.
