A 50-year-old man from Shumen was admitted to the Shumen hospital in life-threatening condition after falling from a roof, the press center of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Shumen reported.
On May 11, at around 10:00 a.m., a signal was received that a man had fallen from a three-meter-high roof of a shed in the village of Struyno. Police and emergency teams were dispatched to “Alexander Stamboliyski” Street in the village.
The victim was transported to the Shumen hospital, where after examination, multiple injuries and a fractured vertebra were found. He was admitted to the hospital for treatment with life-threatening injuries.
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated for causing moderate bodily harm through negligence, the police added.
In the first quarter of 2025, 21 work accidents occurred in the Shumen region, with no fatal accidents registered during the period, said Sevdzhan Akif, the director of the Territorial Division of the National Social Security Institute (NSSI) in Shumen, at a meeting of the Regional Council on Working Conditions. Last year, 60 work accidents were declared at the NSSI - Shumen, with no fatal accidents registered again.
