There will be no ground transport today, because the protest of public transport employees continues, dariknews.bg reported.
This was decided by the employees of the municipal companies, after the over 3-hour meeting of the unions with the local authorities did not yield any results.
The capital's metro will continue to operate, with more trains and shorter intervals. “On Friday, 16.05.2025, additional trains will continue to run on lines 1, 2 and 4, as well as additional railcars on line 3. The reduced train operating intervals on all metro lines remain in effect“, stated the “Metropolitan“.
The mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev, invited the protesters to continue the talks on Monday at 8:00 a.m., but this meeting will take place only if there is an understanding and both ground transport and the metro start running. The mayor's proposal for a 100 leva salary increase plus a bonus for the two companies “Autotransport“ and “Electrotransport“ remains. Terziev has also made another proposal - a 180 leva increase in the basic salary for all four companies.
Once again, the Municipality recalled that for the most problematic position - a driver in the Capital Autotransport, the average salary is 3,600 leva, and in the Metropolitan it is 4,600 leva.
“The basic salary for a driver in the “Metropolitan“ is 2,200 leva.“, said the executive director of the “Metropolitan“ Nikolay Naydenov.
Ivan Kirilov from the Federation of Transport Workers at the “Podkrepa“ Confederation of Trade Unions is categorical about the outcome of the meeting: “We did not reach an agreement. There is no agreement. From 400 leva. we went down to 300 leva. – this was given to us as a mandate by the workers“.
Alexander Shopov from the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions said for his part that he wanted to apologize to all citizens who were inconvenienced by the suspension of public transport, but “the protest of all workers and employees is worthy because it is for decent wages“.
