Against the backdrop of social injustices in the country, the MP from “Vazrazhdane“ Angel Slavchev made a sharp statement from the parliamentary rostrum in connection with the election of the chairman, deputy chairman and members of the so-called Commission on Dossiers.

He addressed the citizens directly, and especially the pensioners, who, in his words, rightly wonder how so much state money is being spent. Slavchev emphasized that the chairman of this controversial and, in his opinion, unnecessary commission will receive a salary of about 14,000 leva per month, which is equivalent to about 680 leva for one working day. At the same time, the minimum pension in Bulgaria remains 630 leva per month.

“This is what I cannot understand. And this does not give me peace inside, because we are obliged to show people outside some morality, honor, dignity, something“, commented Slavchev. According to him, the deputy chairman will receive about 10 percent less, and the members of the commission about 7,000 leva per month.

“680 leva, dear Bulgarian pensioners, will be taken by the chairman of this commission for one working day. And you, who built this country, on whose shoulders we are currently stepping, take the shameful 630 leva and barely make ends meet.“, Slavchev also commented.

In response to the statement, MP Stoyan Taslakov expressed disagreement, stating that citizens are not interested in what salaries will be paid for this commission, because in his words, only about 30 percent voted in the last elections. This, according to him, shows apathy and lack of interest in what is happening in the country.

In his rejoinder, Angel Slavchev confirmed Taslakov's thesis that people do not vote precisely because they are disgusted by such appointments and institutional parasites. According to him, commissions like this are bloodsuckers on the budget, draining over 5 million and 300 thousand leva annually. He called on citizens to be outraged and protest against the appointment of people who have been on state support their entire lives and will once again receive generous salaries without any real need for their work.

Angel Slavchev also made personal criticism of one of the candidates for a member of the commission - former constitutional judge Konstantin Penchev, defining him as a co-author of a legal norm that has allowed banks and private bailiffs to seize the homes of hundreds of thousands of Bulgarians. In his opinion, such people should withdraw from an active public role and devote themselves to their families. However, during the voting, the ruling majority elected Penchev as deputy chairman of the controversial Commission. Plamen Tonchev will receive a monthly salary of 14,000 leva as chairman. “Vazrazhdane“ voted against.

“These commissions are ticks. They are a bloodsucker of our budget. 5 million and 300 thousand leva goes to this committee every year.“, he concluded.
