The Director of the Directorate of the National Police, Chief Commissioner Yavor Serafimov, has been reappointed to the post of deputy director of the Directorate General of the National Police, NOVA reported. He was presented to the Directorate on Wednesday. The reason for his demotion is unclear.
Serafimov was appointed director of the Directorate General of the National Police in 2023. Before that, he was deputy director.
Yavor Serafimov is from Dupnitsa. He holds a master's degree in "Law" from the South-West University in Blagoevgrad. He joined the Ministry of Interior in 1999 as an intelligence officer in the direction “Economy” at the Directorate General for the Prevention of Money Laundering ” Ministry of Interior. From 2006 to 2013, he successively held the positions of intelligence officer in the “Money Laundering” sector and the “Money Laundering” sector at the Directorate General for the Prevention of Money Laundering. From 2013 to 2015, he held the managerial position of head of the “Countering Crimes Related to the Financial System” sector at the “Countering Crimes in the Financial and Credit System” department at the Directorate General for the Prevention of Money Laundering ” Ministry of Interior. From 2015 to 2022, he was head of the “Money Laundering and Fraud with EU Funds” sector at Department 04 “Corruption and Money Laundering” at the Directorate General for the Prevention of Money Laundering - Ministry of Interior.
During his career development has been repeatedly awarded with a declaration of gratitude and cash prizes on behalf of the Directors of the National Security Council, the National Police, the Bulgarian Police and the Minister of Internal Affairs, and in 2022 he was awarded the “Honorary Badge of the Ministry of Internal Affairs” III degree, and in 2023 with the “Honorary Badge of the Ministry of Internal Affairs” II degree by the Minister of Internal Affairs.
