Well-lit parks and streets have been an important topic for us since the very beginning of the mandate. We have made a lot of efforts to start implementing long-awaited projects, said Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev on the occasion of the completely replaced lighting around the National Theater, quoted in a statement by the Sofia Municipality.
The temples that preserve our culture and spirituality are the heart of our city. They deserve to be properly illuminated, so that they continue to inspire us and remind the residents of Sofia and the city's guests that here, among us, the spirit of our future is being built, Terziev pointed out.
The lighting fixtures and the worn-out pillars around the National Theater and on "Dyakon Ignatiy" Street have been completely replaced, 24 new lighting fixtures have been installed on the high pillars, 14 old, depreciated pillars and 28 lighting fixtures have been replaced on "Dyakon Ignatiy" Street and around the National Theater building, 14 LED spotlights have also been installed to illuminate the pediment of the National Theater (the classic triangular element at the top of the facade) and emphasize its architectural beauty.
In 2024, the lighting in the South and West Parks was restored - with the replacement of over 530 lighting fixtures. The project for a completely new lighting system in the "Hippodruma" park is also ready.
