I cannot see the political arguments behind Dzhevdet Chakarov's decision. This was commented on by political scientist Assoc. Prof. Daniel Smilov in the program “Offensive with Lyubo Ognyanov”. “I assume that Dzhevdet Chakarov is ashamed of what he did. It is inexplicable. At least there should have been an argument,” commented Smilov. According to him, an important question is also what makes Delyan Peevski the better alternative to Ahmed Dogan.
„There are two answers. The first is the political answer. What Peevski has as an advantage is the connection with GERB, through which he can guarantee resources. For example - after the electoral success in specific municipalities after the parliamentary elections, the government votes for some subsidies almost immediately for these municipalities. Without the political support of GERB, this cannot happen”, commented Smilov.
„The whole debate whether Delyan Peevski should participate or be isolated by a cordon was related precisely to his access to such a financial resource”, commented the political scientist. According to him, during the government of Nikolay Denkov, Peevski's influence was mostly related to the adoption of the Constitution.
„The second thing, which is more important and more problematic, is that in some magical way state institutions are starting to act in favor of „DPS-New Beginning” and against its opponents, in this case APS and Dogan's people”, commented Assoc. Prof. Smilov.
„Dogan's people were in a sense expelled from the government because they saw that the state apparatus was mobilized against them. Here we can talk about political repression, said Assoc. Prof. Smilov.
He also commented on the absence of Ahmed Dogan. „About ten days ago, he mentioned that he needed a new project. "This was surprising because the dispute over the old project had not ended. It seems to me that some negotiations are underway. I am surprised that Dogan's people have no desire to strongly oppose this obvious political repression against them," the political scientist commented.
