I understand the concerns of Bulgarian citizens, but we need to reassure society. You know that a large part of the prices of the household network are fixed. Through the prism of the euro, there will be no impact on people's pockets. The euro will give us a great advantage in the energy sector. This was announced by Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov to bTV, quoted by novini.bg
“ Electricity will not become more expensive with the adoption of the euro. The price of electricity will be fixed from July 1 this year to July 30 next year. The same is true for the price of fuels in our country”, he is categorical.
Regarding the rejected liberalization, the minister specified that in this way the state will continue to take care of household consumers. The market will be freed when the market price is lower than that set by the state.
There is a definition of energy poverty in the Law on energy, but it will work when the market is liberalized.
“The contract with “Botas” is for 13 years without a termination clause, unless we pay the money for all the years in one go. I have to look for a solution to this problem. The unpaid amount weighs heavily on the budget – 300 million leva. An extremely heavy contract”, he explained.
