The Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova proposes changes to the rules of procedure of the parliament, after which the group of „Democracy, Rights and Freedoms – MRF“ around Ahmed Dogan must change its name.
In the proposal, Kiselova indicates that a request has been submitted by MPs from the PG „Movement for Rights and Freedoms – New Beginning– MRF – A new beginning.
The request expresses the opinion that “in accordance with the principles of the rule of law, it is correct that the name and abbreviation of the parliamentary groups correspond to the registration of the relevant parties or coalitions with the Central Election Commission for the relevant elections for members of parliament, reasons are given for this and an amendment to the Rules of Procedure and Organization of the National Assembly is requested, according to which the name of a parliamentary group should not repeat the name or abbreviation of another parliamentary group“, writes bTV.
Kiselova proposes that the name or abbreviation of a group should not repeat that of another group, party or coalition registered with the CEC.
The transitional provision stipulates that a group that does not meet the new requirements must change its name within three days. If the group fails to do so, the name under which the political force is registered with the CEC will be entered.
