Expert opinion is that there is no direct threat to Bulgaria at this time. This does not mean that we should be calm. This was said by Gen. Atanas Atanasov, chairman of the DSB, in "Panorama" on BNT, quoted by novini.bg.
"We have institutions, security services, which must very carefully monitor the situation and signal the higher authorities when measures need to be taken", he added.
Atanasov sees Daniel Mitov abandoned in his function as Minister of Interior. "In this particular case, it seems to me that Daniel Mitov has been planted on the personnel eggs of his predecessor Kalin Stoyanov", the politician said.
According to him, there are serious deficits in the Ministry of Interior, accumulated over the years. "Daniel Mitov needs professional help to deal with them. I don't see any. It is no coincidence that I have been raising the issue in parliament for a long time that the Ministry of Interior has no professional leader. There is no chief secretary, and he is the one who plans, organizes and controls all professional activity in the Ministry of Interior," added Gen. Atanasov.
Therefore, according to him, serious actions are needed not only by the minister, but also by the entire government. "Training, control over the implementation of the measures," he added.
