„The Ministry and Bulgarian diplomatic missions in the region are closely monitoring everything that is happening both in Iran and in Israel. Our coordination center is in constant contact with the embassies“. This was stated at a briefing by the former ambassador of our country to Tehran, Nikolina Kuneva from the Foreign Ministry, quoted by bTV.
And she announced that over 50 Bulgarian citizens in Israel have requested to be evacuated. But she specified that the priority remains the safety of our compatriots in the Middle East, not time and speed.
„The situation is indeed very complicated. In both countries, the situation is changing at any moment. We, together with the embassies on the ground, are assessing when exactly this (the evacuation - ed.)“, Kuneva also said.
She said that at the moment she could not give an exact number of Bulgarians who want to leave Iran, but explained that the total number of our compatriots there is also about 50.
Earlier today, information appeared about a woman with Bulgarian roots who died in Israel. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs specified that they currently have no information about such a case.
Nikolina Kuneva also stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has no information about a case involving a ship carrying Bulgarian sailors being processed at the Israeli port of Haifa.
