„There are no indications that a project around President Rumen Radev can be profitable, unless some apocalyptic events occur. If something emerges, it must be new and different, and we must admit that Radev is not up to par. He has been part of Bulgarian politics for 10 years”, he said in the studio of „Denyat na zivo“ on Nova News the executive director of “Gallup International Balkan“ Petko Petkov.
“The Bulgarian voter, when he likes something, goes and votes for it. That is why I am more inclined to believe that the president's attempts will not be crowned with the success that he thinks he can generate. Rather, if such a project appears, it will be young, interesting, it will not be what we all expect with impatience from the president”, he emphasized.
According to him, we have been waiting for Radev's project for years. The president's behavior puts him in the field of “Vazrazhdane”, MECH and “Velicie”.
“The players have already settled there. There he would hardly be able to develop any electoral potential for victory and political leadership, but these are only hypotheses,” specified Petkov. According to him, whether “DPS-New Beginning” will threaten the leadership position will be seen in the future.
According to him, APS already has below 4% support, which was completely realistic given the recent events in Kardzhali and the official statements about redirecting to “DPS New Beginning”.
“DPS-New Beginning” is gaining momentum mainly from APS voters, but it can also attract new voters, especially after its active position on the topic of the eurozone,” added the sociologist.
According to him, parties such as GERB and “DPS-New Beginning” are stabilizing, and the BSP is stopping its decline.
Among other formations that are noticing changes are PP-DB and “Vazrazhdane”, and according to him, Kostadin Kostadinov's party expected greater support for its protests against the euro.
In terms of smaller formations, MECH is getting a better result than “Ima takvi narod“, and this is due to the active social media campaign and the charisma of Radostin Vassilev.
