Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev ordered an internal audit of all public procurement and contracts in the "Mladost" and "Lyulin" districts. This is clear from his Facebook post, quoted by bTV.
The measure comes after two district mayors and two municipal councilors left the "We Continue the Change" party and made public accusations of corruption against her.
„I will not allow abuse of public funds – regardless of who commits them. In the fight against corruption, there is no „ours“““, Terziev said in his publication.
The inspection must be completed within 30 working days and will cover questionable procedures and decisions in both administrations.
The mayor also announced that he would meet with the mayors and councilors who left, as well as with the leadership of the PP, to listen to all sides and verify the facts.
„There is nothing more important than that public resources are managed honestly, and not as „private“ property and a source of benefits“, Terziev said and emphasized that he would insist that institutions act on signals and would continue to manage with complete transparency.
