NRA found nearly 90 violations on the Black Sea Coast - 1

The National Revenue Agency has stepped up control on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast at the height of the summer tourist season. Since the start of the campaign on June 30, nearly 300 inspections have been carried out in Varna and Burgas, during which nearly 90 violations have been identified. This was announced in the city of Varna by the director of the “Communications“ Directorate at the NRA Anna Mitova.

26 of the violations were found in the Varna region alone. Among the most common cases are the failure to issue cash receipts and a discrepancy between the amounts available in the cash registers and those reported in the cash registers. In four of the inspected commercial establishments, there were no cash registers installed at all – one of them is located in the Varna region.

“The facility was not closed, but received the necessary instructions“, specified Mitova. She reminded that according to the current legislation, fines for failure to issue a receipt can reach 4,000 leva, and the closure of a facility is among the possible coercive measures in case of serious violations.

The NRA campaign covers not only restaurants and establishments, but also commodity exchanges and markets, from which a large part of the hotels and restaurants along the sea are supplied. Currently, 40 facilities of this type are under active surveillance. The aim is to shed light on the economy and improve tax collection in the services and trade sector.

The inspections also include a new element - control over the issuance of receipts when selling beach accessories. The NRA also monitors how traders apply the legal requirements related to the upcoming introduction of the euro. The cash receipts must clearly show the price in both leva and euro, along with the exchange rate used.

According to Mitova, no cases of illegal price increases have been identified so far. “If such are identified, the information will be provided to the Competition Protection Commission and the Consumer Protection Commission“, she explained. The two commissions have the legal authority to take further action.

Anna Mitova also personally attended an inspection at an establishment in Varna, where no violations have been identified at the moment. The facility has complied with all requirements and has correctly integrated the new rules – the cash receipt shows prices in leva and euro, as well as the exchange rate.

The control campaign of the revenue administration on the Black Sea coast will continue until the end of the summer season.
