One of the two main problems facing Bulgaria is corruption and post-Soviet influence. "We continue the change" committed to solving both tasks, but it turned out that this exceeded their capabilities. In addition, they made a number of their own mistakes, which created the feeling that they were not part of the solution to these problems, but rather a source. This was stated by the media expert and lecturer at the Faculty of Journalism, Assoc. Prof. Georgi Lozanov in the program "Bulgaria, Europe and the World in Focus" on Radio "Focus".
According to him, the scandal created around the PP aims to discredit the liberal democracy that they represent. The attacks against the formation, according to Lozanov, have been going on since its creation.
"The attacks came from the Kremlin and Russian propaganda. The process intensified especially with Trump's second term, as he had, and continues to have, an ambivalent attitude towards the regime in the Kremlin, including the aggression against Ukraine. This entire context, together with the internal difficulties facing the PP-DB, puts the coalition in an increasingly disadvantageous position," Lozanov pointed out.
According to him, the ultimate goal is for the PP to be completely removed from the political scene, and "Democratic Bulgaria" to be reduced to a political badge that other formations can simply put on their lapels.
Regarding the future of the PP-DB coalition, Lozanov emphasized:
"The stronger the pressure against them, the more it will mobilize them - especially when it comes to mobilizing their electorates. Destroying a party means giving up on its electorate. And now there is a large citizen vote that, disappointed with its representation - rather does not vote, but has not yet started voting for someone else."
